Mission Statement: The mission of SCS is to provide high quality therapeutic treatment services to individuals and families struggling with drug and alcohol dependency/abuse and mental health issues.
Philosophy: SCS believes that addictions and mental health issues can be overcome by gaining knowledge about the disease, self-actualization, and perseverance with the desire to change and achieve. SCS believes everyone has the power within themselves to be more than they have allowed themselves to become.
SCS was established March 1, 2002, and the main office is located at 105 South Spring Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823. SCS became a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility through the Department of Health on May 14, 2002. On August 1, 2002, SCS expanded it’s services by collaborating with the Geisinger Medical Clinic in Snow Shoe and Philipsburg in order to provide desperately needed mental health treatment services to the residents of those communities. On October 11, 2002, Spaw Counseling Services, was awarded two additional drug and alcohol treatment facility licenses through the Department of health and began offering both D&A/MH treatment to the people of those communities.

Amy Lynn Spaw M.S., LPC, CRC has been providing quality drug and alcohol treatment services for Centre County residents for approximately 8 years. Four years as an owner/sole proprietor, two years as a Project Director, ensuring Department of Health and Single County Authority requirements were being met and three years in direct services with other county programs. Also, has a strong past history of providing treatment for individuals struggling with mental health and disability issues, totaling 17 years as a well-rounded, seasoned, human service professional.
